A former UCF defensive lineman and Florida and Georgia high school football coach, Kareem Reid is the UCF director of player development on Gus Malzahn’s staff. In 2019 and 2020 he served as head football coach at Griffin High School in Griffin, Georgia.
During three previous years as head football coach at Westlake High School in Atlanta Reid led the team to win three consecutive GHSA Region 2-7A championships and three state playoffs (in 2016, 2017 and 2018), was named Region 2-7A Coach of the Year in 2016 and 2018 and named the Atlanta Journal-Constitution Metro Atlanta/Fulton County Coach of the Year in 2016. Reid’s record at Westlake was 27-10. His Lions reached the Georgia AAAAAA semifinals in 2016.
Reid also served as head football coach and assistant athletic director for Coconut Creek High School in Coconut Creek, Florida, where he elevated a winless football program to national recognition in three years. His 2015 Coconut Creek team was ranked eighth in the Florida 5A poll and featured five all-county selections, four all-state honorees and three U.S. Army All-American Bowl participants.
Reid was also selected as the 2015 Broward County Athletic Association All-Star Game head coach. He also was defensive coordinator at Pebblebrook High School in Mableton, Georgia, and Cedar Grove High School in Ellenwood, Georgia. A native of Coral Springs, Florida, Reid began his career in education and coaching as defensive coordinator/defensive line coach at F.P. Westwood High School in Fort Pierce, Florida.
He holds a degree in criminal justice from UCF in 2006 and earned his master’s degree in teaching health and physical education at Georgia State University in 2019. Reid was a defensive lineman at UCF, winning letters in 2005-06.
