Lauren Roman joined the UCF staff in August 2022 and has been with the Knights for two seasons.
Second Year (2023-24)
Roman was promoted to assistant coach during her second season with the team, coaching walk-on boats.
First Year (2022-23)
In her first year, Roman worked as a graduate assistant coaching the Third Varsity Eight, assisting the novices and freshmen. Roman also coached Coxswains during the 2023 season.
Roman joined the UCF rowing team during her sophomore year for the 2019 season through novice tryouts. In her first year at UCF, she was a stroke seat for the Third Varsity Eight and assisted the Knights to a fifth American Athletic Conference Championship. Roman earned a scholarship in her junior season and moved to coxswain for her remaining three seasons on the team. During this time, Roman coxed the 2V4, 2V8 and V8 with several top-three finishes and was a second-team All-AAC recipient in her final season in 2022. Academically, Roman is a two-time CRCA Scholar-Athlete and a four-time AAC All-Academic recipient.
Before her time at UCF, Roman was a coxswain at Barry University for 2018, coxing the Varsity Four to a Sunshine State Conference win. Academically, Roman was named to the Dean's List in the Fall 2017 semester along with the Athletic Director's List and the SSC Commissioner's Honor Roll in the Spring 2018 semester.
While attending Avon High School, Roman rowed in Varsity boats for all four years, serving as a team captain for three years for the Cleveland Youth Rowing Association. Roman also earned a Varsity letter in gymnastics. Academically, Roman was a four-year honor roll student before graduating in 2017.
A native of Avon, Ohio, Roman competed for the CYRA beginning in middle school. At the time, Roman also competed in track and field and softball.
Roman graduated in the spring of 2021 with a degree in business management at UCF. In the spring of 2022, Roman completed the Emergency Management and Homeland Security Program. Roman is currently pursuing a master's degree in event leadership.
