UCF Finishes Third at Lake Wheeler Invite

LAKE WHEELER, N.C. –
The UCF rowing team finished third at the Lake Wheeler Invite on Saturday morning.
 
The Third Varsity Eight, consisting of Sofia Soria, Chiara Ciullo, Aenea Keren, Lexi Wilson, Saskia Papsova, Joelle Huttmann, Kayla Evers and Maura Shiner, started the day with a third place finish in the final with a time of 7:13.614. The Knights were within eight seconds of No. 13 Duke and finished ahead of North Carolina by more than 15 seconds.
 
The Second Varsity Four, consisting of Kenzie Harrod, Emily Eastwood, Martyna Wasilewska, Annberlee Hothem and Connery Cassidy, took third place in the A Final with a time of 7:46.015.
 
The Varsity Four, consisting of Kennedy Keith, Laura Maule, Tegan Fookes, Jillian Lawrenson and Aryann Johnson, finished third in the A Final with a time of 7:39.291.
 
The Second Varsity Eight, consisting of Lauren Roman, Lauryn Bench, Georgia Coyne, Emily Klysen, Luci Derrick, Lindsey Buckreis, Maria Yim, Tatum Cox and Martina Pischedda, took third in the A Final with a time of 7:02.932.
 
The Varsity Eight, consisting of Elena Esteban, Amy Van Ryn, Julie Poulsen, Rusne Dziugyte, Emily Puia, Charlotte Wiley, Michaela Gundrum, Mia Cleary and Abbie Pritchard, rounded out racing with a third place finish in 6:50.126.
 
As a team, UCF's 66 points gave them third place behind No. 13 Duke (83) and RV Clemson (82).
 
UCF returns to Orlando for a break before heading to Oak Ridge, Tenn., to defend its American Athletic Conference title on May 16.
