UCF Extends 3.0 GPA Streak to 27 Semesters

ORLANDO – The record-setting streak in the classroom continued for UCF Athletics in the spring of 2021, as the Knights extended their streak to 27 consecutive semesters with a department grade-point average of 3.0 or better.

UCF student-athletes compiled a combined 3.36 GPA this semester.

"We're extremely proud of our student-athletes, coaches and academic staff for their accomplishments in the classroom," UCF Vice President and Director of Athletics Terry Mohajir said. "To continue our streak of 3.0 GPA semesters while also navigating through a challenging spring shows the character and dedication of our student-athletes with their academic pursuits."

In addition to the 27 consecutive semesters of a 3.0 GPA, UCF student-athletes also posted their ninth straight semester of a 3.2 GPA or better as a department.

"Our student-athletes deserve all the credit for the tenacity they have shown in these unparalleled times. This semester was completely abnormal – with 15 of our teams in their competitive seasons during the spring," said Tara Helton, Associate AD for Academics. "While we've been operating in this COVID-19 world for a year now, this was still a monumental time and being able to keep our streaks alive speaks volumes about our student-athletes and ASSA staff. It's our culture at UCF; we have set the bar very high in everything we do. We are so thankful for the continued dedication and commitment shown by our student-athletes, ASSA, coaches and administration."

UCF has posted a department-wide GPA of 3.3 or better six times in the last seven years. The Knights have not turned in a semester below a 3.0 since the spring of 2016. The top eight marks in school history have come over the last nine semesters as the Knights continued to win championships in their field of competition.

This semester, just over 74 percent (297) of student-athletes achieved at least a 3.0 GPA and 40 Knights (10%) recorded a perfect 4.0 GPA.

Three teams set or tied a new program record for semester GPA this spring:
 - Softball, 3.66
 - Women's Soccer 3.59
 - Rowing, 3.50

The cross country squad posted the highest overall GPA at 3.74 while men's tennis earned the highest GPA of all the men's programs with a 3.45.
