UCF Athletics Places 72 on 2023 Fall Academic All-Big 12 Team

by Justin Wilson

Following the conclusion of the fall seasons, 72 UCF student-athletes have been named to the 2023 Fall Academic All-Big 12 Team, the conference announced Wednesday.

Football had 28 student-athletes selected, men’s soccer had 14, women’s soccer placed 13, cross country had 10 and volleyball had eight student-athletes named to the team.

To qualify, student-athletes must maintain a 3.0 GPA or higher either cumulative or the two previous semesters and must have participated in 20 percent of their team’s scheduled contests. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence. Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all the criteria except percent of participation are also eligible.

UCF student-athletes extended their record-setting streak in the classroom to 32 consecutive semesters with a department grade-point average of 3.0 or better in December 2023—including nine straight semesters with a 3.3 or higher mark.

The Knights compiled a combined 3.39 GPA in the 2023 fall semester, the second-highest semester GPA in program history.

More than 75% of student-athletes posted a GPA of 3.0 or higher in the fall semester—and 66 earned a 4.0 GPA.

UCF has posted a department-wide GPA of 3.3 or better nine times in the last 10 years. The Knights have not turned in a semester below a 3.0 since fall 2007. The top 11 semester marks in school history have come over the last 13 semesters as the Knights continued to win championships in their fields of competition.
