ORLANDO, Fla. (www.UCFAthletics.com) - The UCF women's rowing team will preview the Melton Lake course that plays host to the South/Central Regionals and the NCAA Championship when they compete in the Southern Intercollegiate Rowing Association Championships in Oak Ridge, Tenn. on Saturday, April 21 and Sunday, April 22.
UCF's No. 9-ranked varsity eight boat is the top-seeded entry in its event and races at 6 p.m. on Saturday. The Knights are slated to face Murray State, SMU, Tulsa, Cincinnati and the club team from Ohio State in their semi-final heat with the top three finishers advancing to the grand final on Sunday at 11:30 a.m.
Kicking off the competition for the Knights at 9:40 Saturday morning, the varsity four faces Chattanooga, Georgia State and Vanderbilt in its opening heat. With 28 entries in the event, UCF must go through the semifinals later in the afternoon.
The semifinals for UCF's second varsity eight and novice eight as well as the finals for the second novice eight also take place Saturday afternoon.
After a two-week hiatus, the Knights return to Oak Ridge, Tenn.for the South/Central Regionals from May 12-13.
