UCF Rowers to Face Top Competition at Windermere Classic

ORLANDO, Fla. (www.UCFAthletics.com) - Putting its recent national rankings on the line, the UCF women's rowing team travels to California to compete against top competition at the fifth annual Windermere Real Estate Classic hosted by Stanford from Saturday, April 14 through Sunday, April 15.

The 20 collegiate squads invited to the event will compete in Henley-style racing, a two-boat race modeled after the historical Henley Royal Regatta in Henley-on-the Thames, England. The Knights' are slated to race varsity eight, second varsity eight, lightweight eight, varsity four and novice eight boats over the two days.

The No. 12 varsity eight opens the regatta against No. 14 Washington State on Saturday morning then races No. 8 UCLA in the afternoon before taking on No. 19 Washington on Sunday. Both the second varsity eight and varsity four compete against the same three schools.

UCF's No. 5 lightweight eight kicks off its competition in a rematch with No. 1 Princeton, which defeated the Knights at Lake Carnegie a week ago. They then go head-to-head against No. 7 Stanford and No. 13 Loyola.

The novice eight is schedule for two races. The first is Friday evening against UCLA followed by one on Saturday against Washington State.
