Cameron Stevens, a familiar face to the UCF volleyball program, has rejoined the Knights as an assistant coach ahead of their 2024 season, head coach Jenny Maurer announced on Tuesday, June 4.
Stevens spent the last two years as assistant coach at High Point, where he helped lead the Panthers to consecutive Big South Tournament Championships. In his two seasons with the program, HPU recorded two 20-win seasons with overall records of 24-7 (2022) and 23-8 (2023).
“We are ecstatic to welcome Cameron Stevens back to UCF,” said Maurer. “Cam is no stranger to coaching nor UCF and we are fortunate that he’s bringing his experience over the past few years back to Orlando. His familiarity with our mission and values at UCF will allow him to step right in and complete our staff, as we head into our second season in the Big 12.”
Before his time at High Point, Stevens was a part of three straight American Athletic Conference titles at UCF. He helped the Knights advance to the second round of the NCAA Tournament twice during his first stint with the Black and Gold.
Stevens has coached both boys and girls at Timber Creek High School over the last 10 years. He spent seven years as the head girls' coach, reaching the regional playoffs six times. He led the Wolves to the regional finals in 2014 and the regional semifinals in 2018. He captured district championships in 2014 and 2018, as well as a Metro Conference championship in 2018.
Leading the boys’ volleyball program, he won district titles in 2015, 2016, and 2022 in addition to Metro Conference championships in 2014 and 2015. He compiled a record of 188-64.
“I would first like to thank Jenny (Maurer) for bringing me back to Orlando,” said Stevens. “I have a ton of respect for what she has done during her time at UCF, and I’m excited for the future of this program. Thank you to our Deputy AD and sport administrator, Chris McFarlane for giving me the opportunity to come back and join this staff. His leadership and support are over and beyond.
“Also, I’m looking forward to working with and learning from Michaela (Franklin), Jason (Tanaka), and Erin (Olson). My wife, my kids and I are very excited to be back here at UCF. We’re excited to continue building on the success of a championship program as we go into year two in the Big 12.”
Stevens coached boys club volleyball with the Orlando Gold Volleyball Club from 2012-2016 and Ocean Bay Volleyball from 2016-2017.
