JACKSONVILLE – The UCF track and field team opened the North Florida Invitational with six top 10 finishes on Thursday on the UNF Track in Hodges Stadium.
Danielle Bess used a personal best 23.41 to win her heat and finish sixth overall in the 200-meter dash. Jasmine Scott-Kilgo added another top 10 finish for the Knights as she picked up eighth place in the long jump with a mark of 19-0.75/5.81m.
The reigning American Athletic Conference Athlete of the Week, Rayniah Jones, made her collegiate debut in the 400-meter hurdles with a top 10 finish. Jones took ninth in 1:00.71. She was joined by teammate Selena Wright, who finished 11th in a season-best 1:00.85.
For the second time this season, Charlotte Crook turned in a personal-best performance in the 1500-meter run. Her 4:23.43 moved her within two seconds of the school record of the event and gave her 11th at the North Florida Invitational.
Victoria Jung added a podium finish in the 3000-meter steeplechase with a time of 10:58.78. Valerie Lastra collected a top 10 finish in her first outdoor 5000-meter run as she finished sixth in 16:55.94.
The Knights close out the North Florida Invitational on Friday.
