TAMPA, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) - The UCF track and field team finished strong on Friday at the Bulls Invitational at the USF Track and Field Stadium.
Rosie Chamberlain won her second event of the outdoor season, this time taking the title in the 1500-meter run. The senior crossed the line in 4:35.89 in the first heat, followed by freshman teammate Beth Williams who finished second in 4:38.60.
All four Knights in the shot put finished in the top 10, with a pair posting personal bests in the event. Jhane' Carter used a season-best distance of 48-10.75/14.90m to take second, while Courtney Morgan's personal-best mark of 47-6.5/14.49m gave her fourth. Shanell Atkins finished sixth with a throw of 46-11/14.30m, and Gabby Durant took seventh with a personal best mark of 42-8.75/13.02m.
For the second meet in a row, Anna Chamness tied her personal best in the pole vault, clearing 11-11.75/3.65m to finish second. Madison Bryan joined her in the top five, finishing fourth with a height of 11-5.75/3.50m.
Two Knights posted top 10 finishes in the 400-meter hurdles. Ebony Crear used a season-best time of 1:00.79 to finish third, while Daneesha Davidson finished ninth in 1:02.71. Crystal Tejeda finished third in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:13.80.
UCF turned in top five finishes in both the 4x100 and 4x400 relays on Friday. The Black and Gold 4x1 squad of Sarah Wollaston, Shaniya Williams, Ciara Holback and Alissa Williams finished second with a time of 46.46.
The 4x4 squad of Ebony Crear, Rosie Chamberlain, Crystal Tejeda and Venida Fagan posted UCF's fastest time in the event this season at 3:44.51.
The top three Knights in the 200-meter dash turned in personal best performances to finish in the top 12. Ciara Holback led the way with a 24.42 time for seventh, followed by Loren Gallmon who took ninth in 24.50. Sarah Wollaston finished 11th in 24.77.
The Knights are back in action on March 29, heading to Gainesville for the Pepsi Florida Relays.
