CLEMSON, S.C. (UCFKnights.com) – The UCF rowing team started strong at the Clemson Invitational on Lake Hartwell.
The Varsity Eight, consisting of Catherine Harms, Ashleigh Boyd, Claudia Destefani, Julie Poulsen, Lauren Aiello, Zana Krakic, Marija Medelinskaite, Viktorija Senkute and Mia Cleary, opened the day with a third place finish in its heat. The Knights posted a time of 6:26.7 to start the day off. The boat followed with 6:31.3 time for third place in its heat in the afternoon session as well.
The squad advanced to the B Final on Sunday.
The Second Varsity Eight, which consisted of Kristen Taylor, Anna Mahoney, Jasmine Blais, Aly Derksen, Ivana Krkljus, Leslie Lajoie, Rachel Rabinowitz, Edvina Nesukaityte and Danielle Taylor, continued the action, finishing fourth with a time of 6:45.1 in the morning session. The squad finished sixth with a time of 6:51.6 in the afternoon portion of racing.
UCF's Second Varsity Eight advanced to Sunday's B Final.
The Varsity Four, consisting of Nicole Mayer, Rachael Klunder, Shannon Perry, Grace Lindberg and Paula Parks, advanced to the C Final on Sunday. The squad posted a sixth place finish with a time of 7:21.5 in the morning and took fifth in the afternoon with a time of 7:31.5.
The Second Varsity Four, which consisted of Olivia Hecimovich, Sydney Hays, Darby Brooks, Jacinta Kendall and Caitlin Ross, will race in the C Final. The Third Varsity Four, consisting of Erica Jimenez, Jessika Scholz, Jazmin Sepulveda, Alyssa Ramos and Nicole Snyder, will also race in the C Final of the 2V4 race.
The Third Varsity Eight, consisting of Liz Mallet, Raquel Smeenge, Danielle Wilson, Triston Krebs, Ashley Barnes, Jordan Jahosky, Dina Samaan and Victoria Gingras, closed out the morning session with a seventh place finish and a time of 7:28.4. The squad opened the afternoon session with a time of 7:16.9 and advanced to Sunday's B Final.
Due to incoming inclement weather, Sunday racing will begin at 7:30 a.m. on Lake Hartwell.
