Rachael Klunder joined the UCF Rowing staff in August 2017. She serves as an assistant coach of leadership and development and director of operations for the program. Klunder is in her first year coaching the Varsity Four and Second Varsity Four boats after spending six years leading the Third Varsity Eights and Fours. She also oversees the novice developmental program at UCF.
In 2022, Klunder led Third Varsity Eights to five first-place finishes. In 2021, she led Third Varsity Eight to five first-place finishes and Fourth Varsity Eight to a win in its only race of the reason. Although the 2020 season was cut short, Klunder led Third Varsity Eight, Novice Eight and Novice Four to wins in the only race of the season
A four-year member of the varsity squad at UCF and team captain for the 2016 and 2017 seasons, Klunder earned three conference championships and made three straight NCAA appearances as a Knight student-athlete and has collected two more of each as a member of the UCF staff. During her final season with the Black and Gold, Klunder rowed in the Second Varsity Eight that won its event at the American Athletic Conference Championship. Seeded 21st of 22 teams at NCAAs, Klunder pulled her boat into the C Final, finishing 18th overall.
As a junior in 2016, Klunder split time between the Second Varsity Eight and Varsity Eight boats. She was a member of the 2V8 that won its event at The American Championship and rowed in the two seat of the V8 that won the D Final at NCAAs.
In 2015, she was the bow of the Varsity Four that finished fourth at The American Championship and won the D Final at the NCAA Championship.
A native of Fonthill, Ontario, she earned a human communications degree in 2016. She earned a Master's degree in educational leadership in 2019 and a Master's degree of science in management in 2021.
Klunder and her husband live in Winter Springs, Fla.
