Charles Featured in Hometown Newspaper
Afia Charles, a native of Greenbelt, Md., was featured in her hometown paper on Thursday as she is a day away from competing at the Summer Olympics in London. A link to the story can be found here: Former Roosevelt sprinter competes in London
Charles, who attended Roosevelt High School along with current Knight teammate Aurieyall Scott, is scheduled to run in lane 6 in heat 2 of the 400m on Friday at 7:08 a.m. EDT. Charles will be running alongside Botswana's Amantle Montsho, who boasts the sixth-fastest wind legal time in the world by a female this year. The top three times of each heat will automatically qualify for Saturday's semifinals along with the next three fastest times overall. A full list of the heats can be found on the IAAF website.
