UCF's win over SMU was its fifth in a row. The last five game win streak for the Knights was back in 2010. UCF's last six game win streak was in 2007 where the team won seven in a row before dropping the Liberty Bowl game to Mississippi State.

SMU's defense was allowing just 119.1 yards per game on the ground. UCF ran for 241 yards against the Mustangs led by Latavius Murray's 155 yards.

The Knights had three different players throw a pass on one drive against SMU. Before Jeff Godfrey's toss to Murray, both Blake Bortles and Rob Calabrese had completions on that scoring drive.

UCF is 21-8 in its last 29 Conference USA games.

Saturday's win over SMU was the school's 200th all time win.

UCF travels more than 1,700 miles to El Paso for Saturday's game against UTEP. The Knights dropped their only previous game at the Sun Bowl in 2008.

The Miners are 2-7 this season with one win in the conference, a victory over Tulane.

UTEP opened in 1914 under the original name of The Texas State School of Mines and Metallurgy. It became Texas Western in 1949 becoming known as UTEP in 1967. Among the most notable alums are: newsman Sam Donaldson; Bob O'Rear, who is one of the original founders of Microsoft;  Robert Windham, former pro wrestler known as "Blackjack Mulligan" and popular NFL ref Ed Hochuli.
