On a night when 20 seniors set a school record for the most victories by a senior class in school history, it was an underclassman who shined for the Knights. Sophomore quarterback and Oviedo native Blake Bortles recorded 350 total yards and four total touchdowns in UCF's 38-17 win over Ball State in the Beef O'Brady's Bowl.

The 6-foot-4 gunslinger tied a Beef O'Brady's bowl record with three passing touchdowns and had 271 passing yards. Bortles also ran for a career high 80 yards and one score on the ground. Many of the seniors said they were impressed by his performance.

"Superman," senior linebacker Ray Shipman said. "He made a lot of plays. Being the humble guys he is he's always preaching about the offensive line, but he was huge in the game."

"Blake played like the quarterback we know he is," senior full back Billy Giovanetti said. "Blake was taking over and he was putting the ball in our receivers' [hands], but he played great. You can't ask for anything more from our quarterback."

Bortles finished the season with 3,059 passing yards, 25 passing touchdowns, 285 rushing yards and eight rushing touchdowns.
