Walter Yates III Season 2022

SENIOR (2022)
- Played in all 14 games in his first season with the Knights, earning the start against FAU, Navy and Duke in the Military Bowl in ’22
- Finished tied for third on UCF in tackles with 54
- Tallied a team-high seven tackles, five solo, one tackles for loss vs. S.C. St.
- Recorded four tackles, one tackle for loss for two yards vs. Louisville
- Had 4 assisted tackles in start vs. FAU
- Contributed six tackles and half a sack at Tulane
- Put together one of his best performances of the season vs. Navy with 11 tackles, half a sack for 4 and 1.5 tackles for loss
- Started vs. Duke in Military Bowl and made nine tackles (6 solo)

PRIOR TO UCF
- Graduate transfer at linebacker for UCF in 2022 after playing 2018-2021 seasons at Savannah State
- Played in first three games of 2021 season, recording two tackles before sitting out remainder of year after suffering torn biceps
- Savannah State did not play football in fall 2020 due to COVID-19 pandemic and instead played shortened spring season in 2021
- Led team with 16 tackles and added two quarterback hurries in those two games
- As sophomore in 2019 had his most productive season, totaling team-high 61 tackles to go with 9.5 tackles for loss in 10 games—adding 2.5 sacks and three interceptions
- Played in nine games as true freshman in 2018 and recorded 58 tackles, seven tackles for loss and a pass breakup while forcing a fumble
- Played at Gulf Breeze High School in Gulf Breeze, Florida

- Majoring in interdisciplinary studies while pursuing master’s degree from College of Graduate Studies after receiving his degree from Savannah State
