• Appeared in 10 of 13 games at quarterback in first season with the Knights
• Rushed 28 times for 142 yards, an average of 5.1 yards per carry, with one touchdown on the ground

• Played 2020 season at Kentucky and 2018 and 2019 at Auburn under Gus Malzahn
• Played in six games in 2020 for Wildcats as sophomore after becoming eligible to play Sept. 30
• Had 25 rushes for 62 yards and completed 17 of 35 passes for 109 yards with one interception
• Made first collegiate start vs. Georgia (Oct. 31) and completed 15 of 25 passes for 91 yards and added 23 rushing yards
• Also saw action vs. Mississippi State, Tennessee, Missouri, Florida and Alabama
• In 2019 as redshirt freshman at Auburn totaled 148 rushing yards on 29 carries with three TDs, and completed five of seven passes for 54 yards and two TDs in seven games for Tigers
• Saw action vs. Oregon, Tulane, Kentucky, Texas A&M, Mississippi State (two of three passing for 26), Arkansas and LSU in 2019 with Tigers
• Redshirted in 2018 as freshman at Auburn
• Had three carries for 28 yards and attempted one pass in 2018 Music City Bowl vs. Purdue in first game action
• Four-year letter winner at Bartram Trail High School in Jacksonville, Florida
• Elite 11 finalist as prep senior and also participated in the Under Armour All-American Game
• Four-star recruit by ESPN, Rivals and 247Sports
• Rated No. 3 dual-threat quarterback and No. 26 overall player in 2018 class
• Led Bears to Florida Class 7A finals in 2017 while passing for 1,468 yards and 12 touchdowns and rushing for another 1,100 yards and 16 scores
• Played for coach Darrell Sutherland
• A sprinter on Bartram Trail track and field team
• Has fraternal twin brother Dominick Gatewood (Joey is 11 minutes older)
