Alex Luhring joined the UCF staff as an assistant director of sports performance in the spring of 2019, working with the Knights’ football program.
Luhring came to UCF following a season working at Chattanooga as an assistant director with the Mocs’ football, soccer, track & field and cross country teams.
Prior to Chattanooga, Luhring was at Minnesota where he worked with men’s track & field as well as the men’s and women’s diving squads.
He started his career as a graduate assistant for sports performance at Arkansas from 2014-16, earning his Master of Science in Sports Management. He served as an intern at Minnesota in 2016 before a stint as assistant strength coach at Southern Utah before returning to the Gophers.
Luhring graduated from Eastern Illinois in 2012 with a degree in Kinesiology. He’s certified by the National Strength and Conditioning Association CSCS along with level II in Reflexive Performance Reset.
He’s a native of Metamora, Ill. Luhring played on the offensive and defensive lines at EIU after serving as team captain for the undefeated 2007 Illinois State 5A Champion Metamora Redbirds.
