Tony Gilbert joined the UCF Football staff in February 2018 as a defensive quality control assistant. He came to UCF after serving in a similar role at North Carolina since 2015.
Gilbert attended the University of Georgia where he earned All-SEC second-team honors as a senior and started every game at middle linebacker. He tied for the team lead with a career-high 114 tackles and recorded 2.5 sacks, 15 stops for losses, 13 quarterback pressures, 1 forced fumble and deflected 2 passes.
He was drafted by the Arizona Cardinals in the sixth round of the 2003 NFL Draft and also played for the Jacksonville Jaguars and Atlanta Falcons.
Gilbert has coaching experience at John Milledge Academy (Milledgeville, Ga.), Georgia Military College, East Mississippi Community College, Auburn and Georgia.
