UCF reached a bowl game in each of Kennedy's first three seasons working for the Black and Gold. It earned back-to-back American Athletic Conference titles from 2013-14, going 9-4 in 2014 and reaching the Bitcoin St. Petersburg Bowl after the memorable campaign in 2013. That season, the Knights were ranked No. 10 in the final Associated Press poll, went 12-1 on the year, defeated two top-10 teams and were victorious in the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl.
In Kennedy's first year in Orlando in 2012, UCF posted a 10-4 record, won the Conference East Division crown and captured the Beef `O' Brady's Bowl trophy.
Kennedy came to UCF from John Carroll University, where he coached the tight ends and worked with the offensive line during the 2011 season.
Prior to John Carroll, Kennedy played football at Northwestern University (2005-09) where he was a four-year letterwinner as well as an All-Big Ten offensive lineman his final season. While at NU, Kennedy also received the Randy Walker Wildcat Warrior Award in his final season.
Born in Silver Spring, Md., Kennedy eventually moved to Florida where he attended Cardinal Newman High School in West Palm Beach. He received his bachelor's degree in communications with a minor in religion from Northwestern in 2009. He then earned his master's degree in sports administration at NU in 2011.
