SENIOR (2017)
• Earned First Team all-conference accolades from the American Athletic Conference
• Named to the John Mackey Award Preseason Watch List, honoring the nation's top tight ends
• Appeared in and started 12 games
• Notched 515 yards and four touchdowns on 32 catches, all career highs

• Played in 13 games, starting seven at tight end
• Third on the team with 23 receptions and 347 yards receiving

• Led all Knights who caught double digit passes with 15.1 yards per reception
• Maryland 9/17: Had two catches for 79 yards, including a 71-yard haul
• FIU 9/24: Totaled three receptions for 45 yards and a touchdown
• Temple 10/15: Caught two passes for 39 yards
• UConn 10/22: Tied season high with five catches for 54 yards and a touchdown
• Tulsa 11/19: Totaled 17 yards on two receptions
• USF 11/26: Matched season high with five catches for 47 yards
SOPHOMORE (2015)
• Opened the year as a starting wide receiver, kick returner and punt returner, but was injured on the opening kickoff vs. Furman
• In two games, combined for 14 receptions, 152 yards and two scores
• Ran back six kickoffs for 149 yards, and two punts for 15 yards
• FIU 9/3: Delivered nine catches for 104 yards and two touchdowns
• Stanford 9/12: Had five receptions for 48 yards, as well as five kick returns for 119 yards including a long of 44 yards
FRESHMAN (2014)
• In his first year back on the gridiron, notched 12 catches for 135 yards
• On special teams, returned 15 kicks for 363 yards and a 24.2 average
• Had 498 all-purpose yards
• At Croke Park Classic vs. Penn State 8/30: Akins, a former pro baseball player, made his debut on the collegiate field and ran back five kickoffs for 142 yards including a 68-yard burst
• Bethune-Cookman 9/20: Posted a pair of catches for 30 yards
• UConn 11/1: Had two catches and two kickoff returns
• Tulsa 11/14: Returned two kickoffs for 77 yards and also added 32 yards off two catches
• USF 11/28: Delivered two catches for 15 yards
PRIOR TO UCF
• Selected in the third round of the 2010 MLB Draft by the Texas Rangers
• A member of the 2010 UCF football signing class before inking a deal with the Rangers
• Hit .218 as an outfielder in four seasons in the Texas farm system, including a .283 mark in 2011
• Boasted 24 homers and 42 stolen bases in 321 minor-league games played
HIGH SCHOOL
• Coached by Steve Collins at Union Grove High School
• An all-state selection in 2009 as a senior
• Attended Strong Rock Christian as a junior and passed for 823 yards and 12 touchdowns while also rushing for 784 yards and 14 touchdowns to earn all-state honors
• Named all-conference as a sophomore
• Also recruited by Georgia, LSU, Georgia Tech and Tennessee
