Women's soccer standout Tishia Jewell received her Senior CLASS Award during halftime of UCF's men's basketball conference opener against UAB on Wednesday. Jewell, who was joined by her mother Telethia, was recognized by head coach Amanda Cromwell and UCF vice president and director of athletics Todd Stansbury in an on-court presentation.

Jewell became the first Knight and just the second Conference USA student-athlete of any sport to earn the prestigious national award. She bested 10 finalists in November for the honor, which recognizes notable achievements in four areas of excellence - community, classroom, character and competition.

Knights fans added a little something to the presentation with cardboard Tishia Jewell head cutouts floating around the stands.

After four successful years donning her Black and Gold uniform on the soccer field, Jewell's collegiate athletic career may be over, but she continues to represent the Knights as a graduate student pursuing two master's degrees.
