SARASOTA – The UCF rowing team closed out the Sunshine State Invite with three grand final wins at Nathan Benderson Park.
The Varsity Eight opened the day with a victory in the grand final. The boat, consisting of Lauren Roman, Emily Puia, Emma Leavens, Charlotte Wiley, Anna Kayser Gallego, Martina Pischedda, Kelly Brown, Tegan Fookes and Connery Cassidy, crossed the finish line in 6:28.75, nearly three seconds ahead of second place Iowa.
The Second Varsity Eight added another win for the Knights, crossing the line just ahead of Louisville. The squad, consisting of Sophia Troia, Georgia Coyne, Annberlee Hothem, Brianna DiSanti, Maura Shiner, Martyna Wasilewska, Jillian Lawrenson, Tatum Cox and Lindsey Buckreis, crossed the line in 6:34.89.
The Third Varsity Eight lineup of Sofia Soria, Maddie Adolfs, Aubrie Russo, Callie Keel, Izzy Kaltenbaugh, Emma Faulkner, Isabella Pinera, Cameron Bowman and Julianne Souza, finished fourth in 6:52.38.
The Varsity Four, consisting of Julia Going, Emily Klysen, Aryann Johnson, Saskia Papsova and Meagan Lukavec, finished third in 7:30.64.
The Knights closed out the weekend with a win from the Second Varsity Four. The squad, consisting of Kennedy Keith, Chiara Ciullo, Rachel Dunford, Claire Kaminski and Avery Bethel, finished more than two second ahead of Iowa and crossed the line in 7:22.24.
UCF returns to action on April 15, hosting Miami on Lake Pickett.
