Knights Win Four Races On Lake Pickett

ORLANDO – The UCF rowing team celebrated its senior class in the best way possible – by winning four events against Miami on Lake Pickett on Friday afternoon.
 
Inclement weather delayed the start of the dual meet between the Knights and the Hurricanes by more than two hours, but the once the storm clouds cleared out, the squads were able to successfully complete five races at the UCF Intercollegiate Rowing Center.
 
UCF's Varsity Eight, consisting of Lauren Roman, Emily Puia, Emma Leavens, Charlotte Wiley, Anna Kayser Gallego, Martina Pischedda, Kelly Brown, Tegan Fookes and Connery Cassidy, won in 6:48.9.
 
The Second Varsity Eight squad of Sophia Troia, Georgia Coyne, Lindsey Buckreis, Aryann Johnson, Maura Shiner, Brianna DiSanti, Saskia Papsova, Tatum Cox and Jillian Lawrenson, finished second to the Hurricanes in 7:05.9.
 
The Varsity Four, consisting of Kennedy Keith, Annberlee Hothem, Rachel Dunford, Claire Kaminski and Avery Bethel, cruised to an open water win over Miami in 7:45.3.
 
A trio of UCF boats raced against the Hurricane in the Second Varsity Four race. The A squad of Julia Going, Chiara Ciullo, Martyna Wasilewska, Emily Klysen and Aubrie Russo, won in 7:42.0. The B boat of Mackenzie Harrod, Maddie Adolfs, Callie Keel, Floor Hurkmans and Meagan Lukavec, finished second in 7:51.9. The C boat of Sofia Soria, Seyene Oord, Cameron Bowman, Izzy Kaltenbaugh and Julianne Souza, finished fourth in 8:07.2.
 
The Third Varsity Eight boat of Brianna Nardelli, Emma Faulkner, Isabella Pinera, Grace Kanaday, Eliza Ciarcia, Kate Corrigan, Zoe Padowitz, Scarlet Robbins and Samantha Migliore, closed out the day with a win, nearly 15 seconds ahead of Miami, crossing the line in 7:31.2.
 
UCF returns to action April 22-23, traveling to North Carolina for the Lake Wheeler Invite.
