Unable to Overcome Green Wave in Series Finale

New Orleans, La. – The UCF baseball team was unable to even the series on Sunday, dropping the series finale at Tulane, 14-7. With the loss, the Knights move to 24-28 (14-14 AAC) on the year; remaining even with Cincinnati for the fourth position of the American Athletic Conference standings.
 
The Knights and Green Wave traded a pair of runs in the first inning, Ben McCabe picking up the RBI for UCF. In the second, John Montes and Josh Crouch teamed up to drive in three runs, Montes picking up an RBI double and Josh Crouch singling to plate a pair.
 
In the bottom half of the second, a grand slam for Tulane gave them a 5-4 lead, which lasted until the fourth, when Jordan Rathbone answered with a solo shot of his own. It was his 13th homer of the season, as he takes the HR lead for UCF. The Black and Gold tacked on a run in the fifth as freshman John Montes picks up an RBI, and again in the sixth to extend the lead to 7-5 after a Tom Josten triple and tagging up to score on a Jordan Rathbone foul out to the first baseman.
 
In the seventh and eighth inning, the Green Wave scored nine unanswered runs on five hits, a handful of free passes and a couple of hit batters to gain a 14-7 advantage.

UP NEXT
The Knights will return home to John Euliano Park to close out the 2021 campaign with a four-game set against Houston beginning on Thursday, with a doubleheader beginning at 2 p.m. Friday has a 6 p.m. first pitch and will be Senior Knight where UCF will honor its senior members. The series will conclude on Saturday on May 22 at 4 p.m.
