EARLYSVILLE, Va. – Windy conditions delayed the start of the UVA Invite, but the UCF rowing team was able to line up against No. 9 Tennessee on the Rivanna Reservoir on Friday evening.
The Third Varsity Eight, consisting of Sofia Soria, Kirstan Menello, Chiara Ciullo, Emily Eastwood, Rachel Dunford, Jillian Lawrenson, Aryann Johnson, Maura Shiner and Kayla Evers started the evening off with a third place finish in 7:49.9.
The Second Varsity Four, consisting of Mackenzie Harrod, Aenea Keren, Connery Cassidy, Kinley Zink and Tatum Cox, finished second in 8:13.6.
The Varsity Four squad of Lauren Roman, Seyene Oord, Michaela Gundrum, Maria Yim and Lindsey Buckreis finished second in 8:09.0 in the third race of the evening.
The Second Varsity Eight, consisting of Kennedy Keith, Abbie Pritchard, Georgia Coyne, Lauryn Bench, Luci Derrick, Annberlee Hothem, Tegan Fookes, Emily Klysen and Emma Leavens, finished second in 7:27.3.
The Varsity Eight rounded out the first day of rowing with a battle against No. 9 Tennessee. The squad of Elena Esteban, Leslie Lajoie, Amy Van Ryn, Julie Poulsen, Rusne Dziugyte, Charlotte Wiley, Mia Cleary, Emily Puia and Martina Pischedda, finished just five seconds off the Vols with a time of 6:48.6.
The Knights return to action on Saturday, racing No. 11 Duke at 9 a.m. and rounding out the weekend against North Carolina at 12 p.m.
