FORT MYERS, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) - The No. 48 UCF men's tennis team swept the singles lineup to defeat Florida Gulf Coast, 6-1, on Sunday afternoon at the FGCU Tennis Complex.

"We played a good match today in singles," head coach John Roddick said. "We did a nice job of winning six first sets."

In singles, No. 44 Korey Lovett posted a 7-5, 6-4 victory over Felipe Ramirez on the top court. Redshirt senior Harrison Richmond followed suit with a 6-3, 6-4 win against Oliver Landert at the No. 2 position.

A 6-3, 6-4 win against Mateo Ruiz gave junior Danny Kerznerman his 14th victory this season. Senior Chris Barrus added another straight-set victory at No. 4 singles with a 6-3, 7-5 win against Ezequiel Cerrini.

Senior Mariano Porter took the first set away from Javier Fernandez, 6-3, but dropped the second set 6-2. Porter won the third, 6-4.

Sophomore Kalman Boyd made quick work of Sam Chaffin, 6-2, 6-0, at the No. 6 spot.

"We need to be more aggressive in doubles," said Roddick. "We have to take more chances and be aggressive at the net. We are looking forward to a big match this weekend at Florida State."

Lovett and Kerznerman tallied the lone Knights doubles win at the No. 2 position. UCF downed Ruiz and Cerrini, 6-3.

UCF heads to Tallahassee next Sunday to take on No. 28 Florida State at 1 p.m.
