ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – The UCF rowing team collected five wins in six events on its home water in a regatta on Lake Pickett on Friday morning.
The Third Varsity Four, consisting of Ashley Martin, Jessika Scholz, Nicole Snyder, Alyssa Ramos and Raquel Smeenge, started the day off with a victory for the Knights. The boat posted an open-water win over Jacksonville with a time of 7:50.6
In the Third Varsity Eight race, UConn edged the Knights for first place. UCF's boat, consisting of Jillian Jernas, Danielle Wilson, Victoria Gingras, Liz Mallet, Dina Samaan, Ashley Barnes, Jordan Jahosky, Daria Chiarella and Triston Krebs, finished in 7:38.8.
The Second Varsity Four boat, consisting of Nicole Mayer, Jacinta Kendall, Shannon Perry, Sydney Hays and Caitlin Ross, earned the second Black and Gold victory of the day. The Knights posted a winning time of 7:46.0.
Continuing the winning ways, the Varsity Four posted a time of 7:23.4. The boat consisted of Kristen Taylor, Jazmin Sepulveda, Darby Brooks, Leslie Lajoie and Paula Parks.
UCF's Second Varsity Eight, consisting of Olivia Hecimovich, Claudia Destefani, Anna Mahoney, Ivana Krkljus, Grace Lindberg, Rachel Rabinowitz, Aly Derksen, Danielle Taylor and Jasmine Blais, added another win for the Knights. The boat crossed the line in 6:47.9.
The Varsity Eight rounded out the day with an open water win. The boat, consisting of Catherine Harms, Julie Poulsen, Lauren Aiello, Ashleigh Boyd, Marija Medelinskaite, Viktorija Senkute, Mia Cleary, Edvina Nesukaityte and Zana Krakic, won with a time of 6:31.1.
The Knights return to action on March 25 at the Longhorn Invitational in Austin, Texas.
