THE TOSS

  • UCF won the toss and elected to receive; Tulane chose to defend the north end in the first half.

TEAM

  • The Knights scored three defensive touchdowns in the game, which has never happened based on historical data available to the UCF Athletics Communications staff.
    • DB Drico Johnson tallied two, scoring on both a 30-yard fumble and 86-yard interception return.
    • DB Shaquill Griffin scored on a 33-yard interception return.
      • Johnson's scoop-and-score and Griffin's pick six were just 49 seconds apart in the third quarter.
  • The last time UCF scored multiple defensive touchdowns in the same game was Oct. 6, 2010, versus UAB. Josh Robinson returned a fumble 56 yards for a score in the third quarter, and Troy Davis had a 29-yard pick six in the fourth.
  • UCF has now accumulated 37 interceptions for touchdowns in program history with three happening this season.
    • Brendon Hayes is the other Knight with a pick six, which he had against East Carolina.
  • UCF and Tulane combined for 13 first half points, which is the fewest at Bright House Networks Stadium since Nov. 9, 2013, when the Knights and Houston combined for six in the first half. UCF had all six points and won the game 19-14.

OFFENSIVE NOTES

  • QB McKenzie Milton trotted in for his third rushing touchdown of the season on a one-yard read option midway through second quarter.
  • QB Justin Holman garnered his second rushing touchdown of the campaign and fifth of his career late in the fourth quarter.
  • WR Hayden Jones had a career-long catch for 50 yards late in the fourth quarter, which is the fourth longest passing play for UCF this season.

DEFENSIVE NOTES

  • DB Drico Johnson recorded two defensive touchdowns, scoring on a 30-yard fumble recovery in the third quarter and then an 86-yard interception to the house in the fourth quarter.
    • He was the last Knight to have a scoop-and-score, tallying one Oct. 5, 2013, at Memphis.
    • Johnson's 86-yard interception is the fourth longest in UCF history.
    • Based on historical data available to the UCF Athletics Communications staff, no UCF player has ever tallied two defensive touchdowns in a single game.
    • Johnson has 111 interception return yards on the season, which is currently tied for fifth in UCF single-season history with A.J. Bouye (2012).
  • DB Shaquill Griffin grabbed two interceptions in the game to match a school record which has been accomplished 22 other times. The last time a player had two interceptions in one game was D.J. Killings last week at Houston (10/29/16).
    • His first pick was a 33-yard interception for a touchdown.
    • His second was late in the fourth quarter.
    • He has four interceptions on the season, which is now tied with 15 other players for 10th in program history, and seven in his career.
  • DL Seyvon Lowry recovered his first career fumble in the third quarter.
  • LB Demeitre Brim posted a career-high in tackles, accumulating a team-high 11.

SPECIAL TEAM NOTES

  • DL A.J. Wooten blocked Tulane's extra point attempt following the Green Wave's opening drive score.
    • The last time UCF blocked an extra point was Dec. 4, 2014, when Thomas Niles also blocked a first half extra point attempt at East Carolina.
