HOUSTON, Texas (UCFKnights.com) – UCF men's tennis transfers Kalman Boyd and Korey Lovett competed at the first of many USTA Pro Circuit events this fall on Saturday afternoon at the Houston Open.

Boyd drew Louisiana alum Hunter Johnson in the first round of the singles qualifier. The USC transfer dropped the first set 6-4, and then battled to try and push a third set but fell 7-5.

Lovett took on Wake Forest grad Johnathan Ho in the opening round, falling 6-3, 6-2.

THE ROGER PHARR CLASSIC
ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) –
Five Knights grabbed a pair of victories each on Saturday at the Roger Pharr Classic, advancing to Sunday's quarterfinals.

Alabama transfer Danny Kerznerman coasted to a pair of wins on the opening day, advancing to Sunday's quarterfinals match against teammate Nicolo de Fraia. The junior didn't drop a set in his Round of 32 to defeat Tayjohn McGee. In the Round of 16, Kerznerman defeated Jesse Schwartz 6-1, 6-4 to advance.

Like Kerznerman, de Fraia breezed to a win in his first match, defeating Kurt Collis 6-0, 6-1. The freshman then battled to a 7-5 first set win over Sirri Korkmaz before winning the second, 6-0.

Kerznerman and de Fraia play Sunday at 11:30 a.m.

Harrison Richmond will play in Sunday's quarterfinals as well after beating Jimmy Thompson 6-0, 6-1 in the Round of 32 and then Hunter Branstner 6-2, 6-2 in the Round of 16.

Enrique Paya also advanced to Sunday's quarterfinals with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Jacob Johnson and then defeating teammate Reece Acree, who won his Round of 32 match 6-0, 6-1, in the Round of 16, 6-2, 6-1.

Arjun Watane won his Round of 32 matchup against Harrison Horton 6-1, 6-3 before falling to Kyle Frankel in the Round of 16.

Paya will take on Frankel in the quarterfinals at 11:30 a.m.

Chris Barrus followed suit, winning his Round of 32 match with ease 6-0, 6-0 over Arthur Radulescu. In the Round of 16, Barrus against made quick work of his opponent, defeating Bernado Costa 6-2, 6-1.
