One of UCF's own achieved a big milestone this weekend. Two-time Conference USA women's basketball champion Angelica Mealing received her master's degree in business administration from the highly regarded  DeVos Sport Business Management program on Friday.

Her work is not done yet. Mealing will receive her second master's degree in sports business management this coming May after completing an internship during the spring semester. She hopes to work for an NBA organization over the next several months.

The DeVos program's reputation is recognized nationally for its unique curriculum. In addition to the program's rigorous course load, it requires students to volunteer 42 hours per semester with a social agency that serves children in the Central Florida area. Students must also maintain a 3.0 grade-point average and receive no more than two C's in their classes to graduate.

Mealing participated in the ceremony with her grandparents, aunt, brother and friends in attendance. She also enjoyed a special moment with some of her former teammates and head coach Joi Williams before graduation.

"Coach Williams spoke to the team about how proud she was of all the hard work I put in to get to this point, and I really appreciated that," Mealing said. "We had ups and downs in our relationship, but I understand why she was so hard on me when I was a player. To hear her say that she was proud of me and that nothing I did went unnoticed, it meant everything."
