SAN DIEGO, Calif. (UCFAthletics.com) - The UCF women's soccer team concluded its two-match trip to California Sunday with a 1-0 victory over 24th-ranked San Diego at Torero Stadium. Sophomore Kristina Trujic (Venice, Fla.) notched the contest's only goal, scoring in the 74th minute to help the Knights improve to 2-1-1 on the year.

Trujic controlled a pass from freshman Dara Spital (Miami, Fla.), took a shot from the right corner of the box and the ball sailed into the top left corner of the goal past San Diego's Courtney Parsons. The goal was the first of the season for Trujic, who tallied three scores in 2010 as a freshman, and the assist was the first collegiate helper for Spital.

UCF went 1-0-1 while in California. On Friday, head coach Amanda Cromwell's squad earned a 4-4 draw at No. 22 San Diego State.

"It was huge for us to go to California and play two ranked teams and leave with a win and a draw. This wasn't pretty, but we still found a way to win," UCF associate head coach Colby Hale said. "Today was a grind it out match. We got a great goal by Tina off an assist by Dara. Aline (Reis) was very good and our backs did a great job defending the crosses."

The Toreros, who were coming off a 2-0 victory over Alabama Friday, fell to 4-2-0 with the loss.

UCF senior Aline Reis (Campinas, Brazil) recorded six saves in the winning effort. San Diego registered eight shots, compared to six for the Knights.

The Knights will return to action Friday when they begin play at the Virginia Nike Soccer Classic against Penn State. UCF will conclude the four-team event Sunday against Washington State.

UCF will not play at home until Sept. 16 when the Knights host Jacksonville.
