ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - UCF baseball assistant coaches Jeff Palumbo and Dan Scott officially conducted this year's draft for the Black & Gold World Series. The event will feature three intrasquad scrimmages which will be six innings apiece, with games one and two to take place Tuesday and Thursday at 9 a.m., while the finale is set for Friday, Nov. 6, at 6:30 p.m.
Admission to each game is free, and at Friday night's game, the UCF ticket office will be on site with 2010 ticket information.
Here's a breakdown of the rules for the series:
- The champion will be determined by:
o If the first two games are split, then the winner of the third game will be the champion.
o If one team wins the first two games, the team that is 0-2 can still win the title by winning game three by an amount of runs that is greater than the sum of the run differential of the first two games.
- All games will be six innings.
- Each team will bat seven players if possible. One outfield position will be filled by a pitcher on both teams. That player will not hit and can be substituted for with a pitcher only.
- No pitcher may pitch more than three innings or throw more than 50 pitches.
- No pitcher that throws more than one inning in game one can throw in game two. Also, he would be restricted to a maximum of two innings in game three.
- No pitcher that throws more than two innings in game one can throw in the remainder of the series.
- No pitcher that throws more than one inning in game two can pitch in game three.
- Any pitcher that pitches one inning or less in a game may be used in the following game.
- All pitchers must face at least one batter in the series.
