Former Knight standout Ryan Breen enters his first season as the director of operations for the UCF baseball program. The 2013 graduate comes back to the Knights after playing two seasons with the Rockford Aviators in the Frontier League. He is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the baseball squad, while serving under head coach Terry Rooney. Breen made 189 appearances for coach Rooney from 2010-13 and helped the Knights to a pair of NCAA Regional appearances, including a runner-up finish at the 2012 NCAA Coral Gables Regional. He compiled .270 average with eight homers and 91 RBI during his Knights' career. The Palm City, Fla., native was honored as a Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American in 2010 after posting .348 average and .435 on-base pct., while tallying five homers, 29 RBI and 46 runs scored. Over 2014 and 2015 seasons with the Rockford Aviators, Breen recorded a .283 average with 9 doubles, six homers and 31 RBI. He played for the New Jersey Jackals upon completing his UCF career. Breen earned a bachelor's degree in interpersonal/organizational communications from UCF in 2013. The following is a year-by-year breakdown of Breen's playing career. 2013 (Senior): Appeared in 44 games with 37 starts in his final season as a Knight, and totaled eight doubles, one triple, one homer and 12 RBI...Named to the Preseason All-Conference USA Team for the first time...Recognized on the Johnny Bench award initial watch list...Scored twice in the season opener vs. Siena while adding a RBI double (2/15)...Reached base safely twice and smashed a double vs. No. 17 Florida (2/19)...Added an RBI single and scored a run vs. UConn (2/22)...Crushed the ball during his 4-for-5 performance against Texas Tech (2/23), which included two doubles, a RBI and run scored...-Reached base safely twice and swiped his first bag of the season against Winthrop (3/3)...Added a hit against No. 24 Miami (3/6)...Hit a single, walked and drove in a run in the win over Jacksonville (3/9)...Went 1-for-3 with a double, two runs scored and stolen base in the win 10-3 win over Columbia (3/15)...Drove in a run at USF (4/10)...Found the right-center gap on an RBI double against Bethune-Cookman (5/1)...Notched three hits in his final home series as a Knight in two games against Tulane (5/11-12)...Went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI against East Carolina (5/17)...Belted a solo home run in the series finale at East Carolina (5/18)...Had a 1-for-3 day at the plate with an RBI against Memphis in the Conference USA Championship (5/22) 2012 (Junior): Started all 57 games he appeared in during his junior season...Served as the Knights' primary catcher and hit .264 with 24 RBI, eight doubles, three triples and a homer...Drove in two runs with a triple in the season opener vs. LIU Brooklyn (2/17) ...Delivered a two-run go-ahead double in the 7th inning to beat Boston College (2/24) ...Was 2-for-4 with two RBI, a triple and a run in a 6-4 win over Siena (3/3)...Finished 3-for-3 with a home run, two RBI and two runs scored in a victory against East Carolina (3/24)...Went 6-for-12 with two RBI in a three game series against UAB (4/6-8)...Drove in four runs with two hits and a triple in a win at Southern Miss (4/15)...Went on a nine-game hitting streak (4/4-17)...Tallied five hits, with two RBI and two runs scored in a series vs. Memphis (4/27-29)...Scored three runs in four games during the Coral Gables Regional (6/1-4) 2011 (Sophomore): Ended the year by going 8-for-17 with two doubles and two runs in his final four games, including the NCAA Tournament...Hit .285 overall on the season, making 41 starts and amassing 10 doubles, a triple, a homer, 26 RBI and 29 runs...A total of 27 starts came in left field, while he also received 10 starts in right field and four behind the plate...Hit .338 with runners on base, .320 with runners in scoring position and was 4-for-8 with the bases juiced...Was 2-for-4 with a run score against Alabama in the NCAA Regionals (6/5)...Collected two hits and scored a run vs. B-CU in the NCAA Regionals run and two stolen bases vs. Siena (2/18) 2010 (Freshman): A Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American...Ranked among the top-five freshmen in C-USA at the end of the regular season with a .348 batting average, a .435 on-base percentage, a .917 OPS and 11 stolen bases...In all, racked up 57 hits, seven doubles, five homers, 46 runs, 29 RBI, a .482 slugging percentage and 11 stolen bases...Earned a .979 fielding percentage in 96 chances...Ended the season on a nine-game hitting streak...Switch-hitter batted .344 vs. lefties and .350 against righties...Went 6-for-13 with four runs in the series at Tulane (5/20-22)...Cranked out three hits with a run vs. ECU (5/15)...Finished the JU game (5/12) 3-for-4 with a double, stolen base, three RBI and three runs...Connected for two hits and scored a run vs. JU (5/11)...Had a double in a two-hit, two-run game at UNF (4/20)...Homered and drove in two against Rice (4/17)...Hit .417 in the series at USM (4/9-11), driving in six and scoring five in two games...Delivered a double in his second-career at-bat in the game vs. Miami (3/9) Prior to UCF: Part of coach Mike Harper's battery at South Fork High School...Won the 2009 5A state title with South Fork, including a regional quarterfinal that saw him hit two home runs, one from each side of the plate -Selected to the 2009 Florida Class 5A All-State Third Team...Earned the team's MVP award as a senior by hitting .407 with 14 RBI and 14 stolen bases...Also was the team's MVP and the St. Lucie County Baseball Classic MVP as a junior...Hit .403 with 11 RBI and seven stolen bases during his
