Prior to UCF
-Played for coach Bob Pagano at Sickles High School
-Had a career record of 12-9, striking out 153 in 145.0 innings, walking only 56 and holding opposing hitters to a .216 average
-Did not allow a homer or a triple during his senior season
-A 6A all-state honorable mention selection as a junior after hurling two no-hitters and completing the year with a 2.92 ERA and 59 strikeouts compared to just 19 walks
-Named to the Tampa Tribune and St. Pete Times All-Hillsborough County Team following his junior campaign
-Received the school[apos]s Golden Arm Award as a sophomore by posting a 2.47 ERA and 39 strikeouts
-Named the Tampa Tribune Swimmer of the Year by claiming district titles in the 50 and 100 freestyle as well as the state championship in the 50 free as a junior
-Participated in the 2009 Rays High School All-Star Classic in June
-Attended the East Coast Professional Showcase in Lakeland during the summer of 2008
-Also attended the Diamond Club in Winter Haven in fall 2008
