March 9, 2006

ORLANDO - The UCF women's golf team will be facing one of its toughest tests of the year when play begins Saturday at the SunTrust Lady Gator Invitational in Gainesville, Fla. UCF will be one of 14 teams competing for top honors at the 5,927-yard, par-70 University Golf Course.

"This will be the best field we will face this season and we're excited about the challenge," UCF coach Emilee Klein said. "We are coming off a great last round of competition and are playing pretty well as a team right now."

The Golden Knights finished in a tie for eighth at the Pat Bradley Women's Championship two weeks ago when they shot their best round of the year on the final day, a 6-over-par 298. Junior Holly Boot led the way for UCF, firing a career-best even-par 73 in the final round en route to a career-best tie for 13th.

Boot will be joined in Gainesville by Lauren Motyl, Ashley Grier, Mayule Tomimbang and Kristy McLaughlin.

Motyl is playing well right now heading into this event after leading the team in qualifying last week. Tomimbang is also playing well, coming off a tie for 27th at the Pat Bradley.

The teams will play 36 holes Saturday and 18 holes Sunday.
