Lauren Motyl is a long-ball hitter who has the ability to post some low scores. She has tremendous ability, but will need to be more consistent in order to reach her potential.
Spring 2007: Placed in a tie for 51st playing as an individual in the UCF Challenge...Participated in the Lady Puerto Rico Classic finishing second overall for UCF in a tie for 52nd place.
Fall 2006: Did not compete.
As a Junior (2005-06): Best event of the year came in the fall at the Stetson Invitational where she tied for second. She posted a career-low 3-under 69 in the second round at Stetson. She finished fourth on the team with a 79.15 stroke average and had three top-20 finishes. She tied for the team lead with two rounds at par or better. She tied for 20th in the season-opening Napa River Grill Cardinal Cup hosted by Louisville and tied for 14th while competing as an individual at the UCF Invitational. She shot an even-par 72 in the first round at the UCF Invitational.
As a Sophomore (2004-05): Motyl finished a close third on the team with a 79.6 stroke average and was second on the team with four top-20 finishes. Her best finish on the year was a tie for fifth at the Pat Bradley Invitational in Miami. She tied for low on the team with Ashley Grier at that event and posted a season-low round of 2-over 74 in the final round. She carded 12 rounds of 76 or better on the year. She was UCF[apos]s top finisher at the UCF Invitational at Stoneybrook, where she tied for 12th.
As a Freshman (2003-04): Motyl made immediate impact on the UCF program, finishing second on the team with a 79.9 stroke average. She appeared in eight tournaments and had a top-20 finish in her first tournament as a Golden Knight at the Louisville Cardinal Cup (Sept. 20-21). She posted two other top-20 finishes at the Beacon Woods Invitational (Oct. 10-12) and the Waterlefe/USF Invitational (Mar. 15-16). She had a tremendous fall season finishing in the top three on the team in all five tournaments. She led the team in scoring twice. Her low score was an even-par 72 in the opening round of the Beacon Woods Invitational.
Prior to UCF: Motyl was a four-year letterwinner at New Bedford High School in New Bedford, Mass. She won the state championship her sophomore season and also finished second in the state as a junior and senior. She was the 2002 RE/MAX World Long Drive Junior Girls Champion. She hit a drive 288 yards to win the title, 12 yards longer than the second-place finisher. She was named the 2001-02 Boston Globe Girls[apos] Golfer of the Year and was a three-time Boston Herald all-scholastic team member.
Personal: Lauren Ashley Motyl was born in New Bedford, Mass., and is the daughter of Edward and Jeanne Motyl. She is a liberal studies major.
