Women's Golf Back in Action at Waterlefe Invitational Monday

March 17, 2006

ORLANDO - The UCF women's golf team returns from a week off to compete at the Waterlefe Invitational at the Waterlefe Golf & River Club in Bradenton, Fla. Monday and Tuesday. The 54-hole event hosted by the University of South Florida will feature 36 holes Monday and 18 holes Tuesday.

"We've had a good week of practice leading up to this event so I'm excited to see how well we play," UCF coach Emilee Klein said. "We sharpened our mental focus and worked hard on the short game errors that cost us shots in the Lady Gator Invitational."

UCF finished 11th in a tough field of 14 schools last time out at the Lady Gator Invitational in Gainesville. The Golden Knights began the final round in 13th and posted the fifth-best score of the day en route to moving up two spots in the team standings.

This event will mark the return of Jessica Trein who missed the first three events of the spring because of injury. She posted one top-10 and two top-20 finishes in three events in the fall and played well in her last outing, tying for seventh at the Stetson Invitational in November.

Trein will be joined in Bradenton by Lauren Motyl, Ashley Grier, Holly Boot and Kristy McLaughlin.

Motyl was UCF's highest finisher in Gainesville, tying for 38th at 25-over-par, one shot ahead of Boot who tied for 41st.
