ORLANDO - Fresh off a third-place showing on its home course at the UCF Women's Golf Invitational two weeks ago, the UCF women's golf team will play its second event of the spring at the 28th Annual Pat Bradley Women's Championship in Kendall, Fla. beginning Tuesday.
The tournament, hosted by Florida International, will feature 20 teams. The field will play 36 holes Tuesday and 18 holes Wednesday over the 5,957-yard, par-73 Miccosukee Golf & Country Club layout. The event was originally named the Miccosukee Championship, but has now taken the Pat Bradley name. The Pat Bradley tournament was scheduled to be played last fall, but had to be cancelled due to hurricane damage at the Doral Golf Resort and Spa.
"This tournament will be a good test for us," UCF coach Emilee Klein said. "We are making progress individually and as a team and I'm excited by what I am seeing. This is another chance for us to put into practice what we have been working on."
UCF finished in a tie for 10th at this event last year, while Ashley Grier had one of her best outings of the year, tying for fifth. Grier led the Golden Knights at the UCF Women's Golf Invitational two weeks ago when she tied for fourth. Lauren Motyl also had a strong showing in the first event of the spring, tying for 14th while competing as an individual.
Grier and Motyl will be joined in Kendall by Mayule Tomimbang, Kristy McLaughlin and Holly Boot.
