Will Clayton started as an assistant coach with the UCF men's soccer program in March 2014. Clayton serves as the Knights recruiting coordinator and has on-field responsibilities along with assisting in the day-to-day operations of the program.
Clayton aided the development of Romario Williams, who was selected No. 3 overall to the Montreal Impact in the 2015 MLS SuperDraft in January, and Hadji Barry, who was chosen by Orlando City in the first round the following year.
As a former NCAA Division I National Champion in 2007 at Wake Forest, Clayton helped the Demon Deacons make three-consecutive appearances at the NCAA College Cup from 2006-08.
After spending three seasons as an assistant coach at his alma mater, Clayton aided UMass-Lowell in its transition to Division I (America East Conference) as the top assistant in 2013. He was involved in all aspects of the program with an emphasis on recruiting.
He was responsible for putting together the Riverhawks' 2014 recruiting class that included domestic, international and transfer players.
At Wake Forest, Clayton's on-field responsibilities included the development of the midfield unit. He was also instrumental in planning the team's travel and overseeing the program's budget.
Clayton served as the media coordinator responsible for video analysis and managing the program's social media accounts on Facebook, Twitter and Youtube.
As a player for the Demon Deacons, Clayton was a part of the 2006 and 2008 ACC Regular Season Championship squads. The 2007 National Champion graduated in 2009 with a Bachelor of Arts in history. He was selected as the squad's "Deacon Award" winner in 2006, which is an acknowledgment chosen by the coaches.
The NSCAA member obtained the organization's premier diploma in January 2013. He also holds a USSF B License that was earned in June 2013.
In addition to his work at the college level, Clayton has helped at the youth level with the North Carolina Fusion and North Carolina ODP programs.
Clayton developed a proficiency in Spanish through completing a six-week study abroad program in Queretaro, Mexico during the summer of 2008 and serving six months starting in the summer of 2009 as a Premiere Soccer Tours Sales Representative in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
