Since Sims joined Marron for the 2013-14 season, the Knights have racked up plenty of accolades and accomplishments. In eight seasons, the Knights have made five NCAA Regional appearances and an NCAA National Championship appearance.
In conference play with Sims' assistance, UCF has won two conference championships and has finished in the top-two for six of the eight seasons. The Knights have also earned four Freshman of the Year awards and three Player of the Year accolades. Sims has also helped coach 14 all-conference selections in his time at UCF.
In 2020-21, For the third time in five seasons, the Knights earned an NCAA Regional bid, after finishing fourth in the American Athletic Conference Championship. The Knights top finish of the spring came in the final tournament of the season, winning the Brickyard Invitational. UCF women’s golf earned a pair of conference honors as Tunrada Piddon and Ana Laura Collado were named to the American Athletic Conference All-Conference, each for the first time. UCF entered the NCAA Louisville Regional ranked No. 34, where they shot a +17 across the three round tournament, finishing tied for 8th and missing advancing to the National Championship by two strokes.
The 2019-2020 campaign was cut short two tournaments before the end of the regular season due to the COVID-19 pandemic. At the time of the cancellation, the Knights' top finish came at the Princess Anne Invitational in October, and the Lady Gator Invitational in March, where UCF placed T-4 in each tournament. Tunrada Piddon picked up a pair of tournament victories, also at the Princess Anne Invitational.
The 2018-19 season for Marron, Sims, and the Knights was one for the record books. The young squad reached the NCAA National Championships for just the second time in program history after qualifying at the NCAA Cle Elum Regional in Washington. Sims helped lead the team to a regional after an impressive finish at The American Championship to earn a ranking of No. 51. The Knights finished runner-up for the second consecutive season and Freshman of the Year Elizabeth Moon nearly finished in first individually.
After dominating at The American Championship, the Knights earned an invitation to their sixth regional appearance in the last nine seasons. UCF was a 13-seed at the Cle Elum Regional in Washington going up against some of the top teams in Division I women's golf. After the first round of the NCAA Cle Elum Regional, the field was led by sophomore Ana Laura Collado, who recorded a 66(-6) to start the tournament. Collado’s round was the best of her collegiate career and is tied for second-best in program history. Sims helped coach Collado into first place heading into the final day. The sophomore shot a 68(-4) in the third round and led up until the final hole to finish second overall with a 206(-10). The Knights were tied for sixth heading into the final round and the team shot eight-under on the back nine to punch their ticket to their second-ever national championship appearance with a three-day total of 874(+10) finishing in sixth place.
Sims helped guide Moon and junior Maria Balcazar to all-conference honors along with a Freshman of the Year award for Moon. The rookie stud took home first place overall at two tournaments during the season and her first came just three tournaments into her rookie season at the Princess Anne Invitational in Virginia Beach on Oct. 7. Moon shattered the program record for best 54-hole finish with a 203(-7) after shooting 71-67-65. Her low round of 65 tied the program’s record for best single-round score. Moon's second top finish was at the Florida Challenge on Jan. 28 in Tampa, Fla., where she shot 68(-4) and tied for first overall. Moon finished the regular season with five top-10 finishes and three top-five finishes and averaged 72.2 strokes per round breaking the previous record. The rookie was UCF’s top finisher in eight of their 10 events this season. Moon reached as high as the No. 22 ranked player according to Golfweek and ended the season ranked No. 40.
The Knights posted a pair of team victories during the season with their first coming at the Princess Anne Invitational and the second at the Moon Golf Invitational. UCF also beat ECU in match play and recorded a second-place finish at the conference championship. It is the first time since the 2013-14 season that the Knights have won multiple tournaments in a single season. The Knights reached as low as No. 43 heading into the Championship and finished the season ranked No. 48.
Sims helped lead the Knights to a second-place finish in the American Athletic Conference tournament in their final tournament of the 2017-18 season and senior standout Kaeli Jones finished fifth overall in her final Conference championship. Jones also earned all-conference honors for the first time in her career. Sims assisted Jones to an NCAA Regional berth in Tallahassee where she finished in the top 50.
