ORLANDO - UCF volleyball returns home this weekend for a pair of Big 12 tilts against Cincinnati on Friday and No. 19 Kansas on Sunday at The Venue.
Setting the Stage
The Knights look to get into the Big 12 win column after a difficult stretch to open the conference slate. A pair of five-set defeats to Kansas State and Iowa State preceded tough matchups against No. 21 Baylor and No. 9 TCU, with both matches ending in four sets. Last season, the Black and Gold swept Cincinnati at home before falling on the road, a similar fate that was met against the Jayhawks in Lawrence in the final match of the season.
Non-Conference Recap
The Knights concluded their non-conference play with an 8-2 record, which included six sweeps and an overall set clip of 26-8. For the first time since 2022, the Black and Gold fired off four consecutive sweeps, defeating Davidson, Stetson, Virginia and UAlbany in commanding fashion. Against Power Four opponents, UCF went 2-2, which was highlighted by a pair of sweeps over NC State and Virginia and a 2-1 mark against ACC opponents.
Hitting Percentage
The Knights rank second in the Big 12 and seventh in the nation in hitting percentage, boasting a .298 clip through 14 matches. The mark is in large part due to the efforts of UCF’s middles, Ella Chapman and Sasha Cohen. Chapman ranks second in the conference with a .407 hitting percentage, while Cohen follows in fourth with a .402 clip of her own. The Knights are the only team in the nation to have multiple players hitting .400 or higher.
Dynamic Duo
After coming on their official recruiting visit together back on September 25, 2021, and starting their first collegiate match together on August 25, 2023, Avah Armour and Abby Schomers each reached historic milestones together on August 30, 2026, against NC State. Schomers became the fifth Knight in program history to surpass 3,000 career assists, while Armour became the 15th Knight in program history to surpass 1,000. Armour ranks eighth in the Big 12 with 4.52 points per set, while Schomers is third in assists per set (10.12).
