Volleyball Travels West for Friday Night Tilt at Texas Tech

ORLANDO - After a pair of strong performances last week to get the UCF volleyball team into the Big 12 win column, the Knights will hit the road for a Friday night meeting at Texas Tech in Lubbock at 7 p.m.

Back in the Win Column
The Knights secured their first two Big 12 wins of the season this past weekend in a pair of strong displays. For the second consecutive season, UCF bested the Cougars in Houston in five sets, as the Black and Gold tallied 14 blocks, their second most of the season. Back at home, the Knights took care of business in four sets against West Virginia on the back of a season-high 11 service aces. Sophomore Mikayla Porter boasted a career-high 43 assists in the win in her second start of the season.

Big 12’s Best
Freshman Natasha Casey leads the conference and nation in aces per set (0.76). As a team, UCF ranks second in the Big 12 and eighth in the nation in hitting percentage, while also ranking seventh in kills per set (13.34). Sasha Cohen leads the Big 12 in hitting percentage with her impressive .399 mark, which also stands 29th in the NCAA. Alexa Haley stands fourth in the conference in digs per set (3.76), while Avah Armour sits ninth in kills per set (3.97).

Non-Conference Recap
The Knights concluded their non-conference play with an 8-2 record, which included six sweeps and an overall set clip of 26-8. For the first time since 2022, the Black and Gold fired off four consecutive sweeps, defeating Davidson, Stetson, Virginia and UAlbany in commanding fashion. Against Power Four opponents, UCF went 2-2, which was highlighted by a pair of sweeps over NC State and Virginia and a 2-1 mark against ACC opponents.

Dynamic Duo
After coming on their official recruiting visit together back on September 25, 2021, and starting their first collegiate match together on August 25, 2023, Avah Armour and Abby Schomers each reached historic milestones together on August 30, 2026, against NC State. Schomers became the fifth Knight in program history to surpass 3,000 career assists, while Armour became the 15th Knight in program history to surpass 1,000. Armour ranks 9th in the Big 12 with 3.97 kills per set, while Schomers is second in assists per set (10.15).
