Setting the Stage
The Knights embark on their final non-conference weekend of the season and their second away trip of 2026 at the Stacey Clark Classic in West Lafayette, Indiana. UCF met both UAlbany and Purdue in 2023, sweeping the Great Danes before suffering that fate against the Boilermakers. UCF’s matchup with No. 11 Purdue on Saturday will mark the 67th ranked matchup in program history. Last season, head coach Matt Botsford became the first coach in program history to claim two ranked wins in his first season in charge, defeating No. 17 BYU in Provo before sweeping No. 24 Iowa State at home.
Sweepin’ and Sweepin’
UCF took care of business in emphatic fashion in a pair of home non-conference tilts last week, sweeping Stetson and Virginia. Against the Hatters, the Knights held them to a negative hitting percentage (-0.111) and just 16 kills. It marked the first time since 2014 the Knights held an opponent to a sub-zero mark and the second-consecutive season holding Stetson to 16 or less kills (tallied just 15 in 2025).
Big 12’s Best
The Knights rank among the top tier of the Big 12 in multiple categories, with their .333 hitting percentage leading the conference and ranking third in the nation. That is in large part due to the efforts of Sasha Cohen (1st, .438), Ella Chapman (2nd, .432) and Natasha Casey (.385). UCF also ranks second in blocks per set (2.93) and opponent hitting percentage (.135), along with sitting third in assists per set (13.11) and kills per set (14.29). Freshman Natasha Casey leads the Big 12 with 0.86 aces per set, while ranking fourth in the NCAA.
Dynamic Duo
After coming on their official recruiting visit together back on September 25, 2021, and starting their first collegiate match together on August 25, 2023, Avah Armour and Abby Schomers each reached historic milestones together on August 30, 2026, against NC State. Schomers became the fifth Knight in program history to surpass 3,000 career assists, while Armour became the 15th Knight in program history to surpass 1,000. Armour ranks seventh in the Big 12 with 14.04 kills per set, while Schomers is second in assists per set (10.48).
