COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The UCF track and field team closed competition at the Charlie Thomas Invitational on Saturday evening, following a strong two-day showing, highlighted by multiple top-five finishes and personal bests.
MEET HIGHLIGHTS
- Omaria Gordon started things strong for the Black and Gold, securing a fifth-place finish in long jump with a mark of 6.07m
- The Knights impressed in the 200m, where both Jazmen Newberry (23.59s) and Samiyah Roberson (23.81s), placed within the top-10 for the event, earning fifth and eighth, respectively. Newberry and Khristel Martindale (24.36s) each turned in new personal bests in the event as well.
- Competing in her first pentathlon of the year, Paige Laffoon impressed, immediately leaving her mark, logging 3,598 points to slot in at No. 6 in the all-time record books
- Aaliyah Gipson continues to raise the bar, setting a personal best in the 60m in back-to-back weekends, clocking a 7.53s time this weekend to qualify for the finals.
- The Knights 4x400m squad ended the weekend on a high note, as Janiah Pulliam, Genelle Stephens, Newberry, and Twaniese Johnson ran across the finish at 3:35.31, the third-fastest time in program history.
