Worden Spotlights Five Knights on All-Big 12 Team

by Maxson Hernandez-Trujillo

IRVING, Texas - Liz Worden has earned First Team All-Big 12 Women’s Soccer honors, and Genesis Perez Watson, Rajanah Reed, Honoka Hamano, and Maria Tregansin have all taken home Second Team All-Big 12 Soccer accolades as announced by the conference office on Tuesday.

Worden’s first team all-conference selection is the second in two years for the Knights after Chloe Netzel’s achievement in the 2024 season. The Long Beach State transfer currently leads the Black and Gold in goals (7), assists (9), points (23), shots (53), and shot conversion percentage (.132), ranking in the top 10 in the Big 12 in the first four categories. The forward is the first Knight to record at least five goals and five assists in a season since 2022, when Kristen Scott (9 G, 5 A) and Dayana Martin (5 G, 5 A) both reached that mark. In 2025, the senior forward has netted or provided an assist in 10 different contests for UCF, scoring a brace against BYU on Oct. 27 that clinched a berth in the 2025 Big 12 Soccer Tournament presented by Allstate.

The first team all-conference nomination is the first for Worden in the UCF chapter of her career. In the 2024 season that she spent at Long Beach State, she earned Second Team All-Big West Conference honors. In her sophomore year at Texas in 2023, Worden was named to the Academic All-Big 12 Team.

Perez Watson is one of four Knights named to the 2025 All-Big 12 Soccer second team. She has been the backbone of a UCF defense that has only conceded 15 goals in 19 games, marking the fewest goals conceded in a regular season since 2022, when goalkeeper Caroline DeLisle helped her back line to only concede 13 goals. Perez Watson ranks third in the Big 12 in save percentage (.830), tied for third in shutouts (7), and tied for fourth in goals against (15), and fifth in goals against average (.789), setting single-season career highs in all four metrics. She has also set career highs in minutes (1,710) and saves (73).

In addition to her second team all-conference selection, Perez Watson has raked in the accolades this season. She has garnered two Big 12 Goalkeeper of the Week awards, as well as an inclusion in the Top Drawer Soccer Team of the Week for Oct. 7. The Costa Rican shot stopper also earned Big 12 Conference Freshman of the Week honors for her first solo collegiate clean sheet at Colorado on Oct. 13, 2024, a 14-save performance that tied for seventh in the UCF single-game record books. She was also named to the 2024 Fall Academic All-Big 12 Team.

The forward Reed takes home Second Team All-Big 12 Women’s Soccer honors after tying for the team lead with seven goals and assisting three more, including five game-winners that crucially helped the Knights edge out opponents throughout the season. Reed has set career highs in nearly every statistical ranking, as she has started 16 games, scored seven goals, assisted three times, achieved 17 points, shot 48 times, shot on goal 26 times, posted a shot on goal percentage of .542, scored five game winners, and played 1152 minutes so far. The Washington State transfer has been in stellar form as of late, scoring or assisting in five of the last six games for UCF. Reed’s Second Team All-Big 12 selection is the first accolade of her collegiate career.

Honoka Hamano’s dynamic performances in the UCF midfield have led her to a Second Team All-Big 12 Women’s Soccer nomination, as she has helped her team to the six seed in the Big 12 Soccer Tournament presented by Allstate. The Japanese midfielder has four goals, five assists, and 13 points, which are all single-season career highs. She has also set new personal records in shot percentage (.235), shots on goal (10), shots on goal percentage (.588), and game winners (3). Hamano has played well down the stretch, with four goals or assists in her last five games for the Black and Gold.

Hamano’s Second Team All-Big 12 inclusion is the first of her career as a Knight. In 2023, she earned a spot on the 2023 AAC All-Rookie Team at Memphis.

UCF captain Tregansin secured Second Team All-Big 12 Women’s Soccer honors for her performances in the midfield for UCF this season. The Winter Garden, Florida native started 16 games for the Black and Gold and notched two assists, including one on Reed’s game winner against then-No. 16/10 Baylor. She also played a part in helping the Knights to six of their seven clean sheets this season, putting in her shifts to deny the opposition from scoring. 2025 saw career-high figures for Tregansin as she played in 17 games for a total of 1371 minutes. Tregansin’s nomination for the Second Team All-Big 12 is the first award of her collegiate career.

Colorado’s Hope Leyba was named the Big 12 Forward of the Year while her teammate Jordan Nytes earned Big 12 Goalkeeper of the Year honors for the second year in a row. Baylor’s Tyler Isgrig secured the Big 12 Midfielder of the Year title, while Texas Tech defender Macy Blackburn took home Big 12 Defender of the Year honors for the second year running. TCU’s Kamdyn Fuller was titled Big 12 Freshman of the Year, and TCU head coach Eric Bell earned his second straight Big 12 Coach of the Year award after leading his TCU Horned Frogs side to a second successive Big 12 regular season championship. Nytes, Kansas’ Caroline Castans, and TCU’s Seven Castain all were named as Scholar-Athlete of the Year.

The Knights hold an 11-3-5 overall record and finished in sixth in the conference standings with a 5-1-5 Big 12 mark. UCF had its run at the 2025 Big 12 Tournament Presented by Allstate come to a close on Monday night with a 3-2 setback to No. 11/4 Colorado in the quarterfinals. The Black and Gold will now await a possible at-large selection to the 2025 NCAA Division I Women’s Soccer Tournament that will begin Nov. 14-16.
