HOW IT HAPPENED
In the opening set, the Knights drew first blood, jumping out to a 7-4 lead on the back of a pair of aces by Mikayla Porter. UCF kept it close throughout with Avah Armour posting five kills, but ultimately came up short, falling 20-25.
Set two saw UCF starting strong once again, leading 16-9 at one point. Nygeria Hart came off the bench, earning two kills in her lone set, helping force extra points. The set came down to the wire, but TCU found the winner, 27-25.
The third set was an electric back-and-forth battle featuring seven lead changes. UCF was able to control the net, posting five blocks, more than either team in a single set all night. Yet another tiebreaker ensued, this time in the Knights' favor. Strong play from the middles, Sasha Cohen and Ella Chapman, pulled UCF in front to cut its deficit in half.
In the fourth and final set, the Knights kept it competitive, but TCU proved to be too much. UCF rallied back from a 14-10 deficit to level it at 20-all, but ultimately dropped the set 25-22.
