Volleyball Swept by Texas Tech

LUBBOCK, Texas – The UCF volleyball team suffered a 3-0 loss to Texas Tech Saturday afternoon in the United Supermarkets Arena. 


The Knights (8-11, 1-9 Big 12) and Red Raiders (12-11, 4-7) tallied 48 digs. At the same time, Texas Tech led the match with 49 kills and 10 blocks. 


Avah Armour led the Knights with 12 kills and added nine digs. Alexia Kuehl tallied nine kills, hitting a .500 clip. On the defensive side, Kaitlin Grimes led with 10 digs and Sasha Cohen recorded four blocks. 


Texas Tech got off to an early 4-0 start in the first set. The Knights were able to bounce back as Cohen tied it up at 17 with a kill. UCF was unable to take the lead as Texas Tech took the first set, 25-23. 


The Red Raiders got off to another early start, 3-0 but a kill from Heidi Bonde knotted the set up at 13. UCF and Texas Tech battled back and forth until the Red Raiders went on a 3-0 run and held onto the lead throughout the remainder of the set, 25-23. 


Both teams tussled for points until a 3-3 deadlock which caused the Red Raiders to take the lead following a 3-0 rally. Texas Tech never relinquished its lead to win the match, 25-13. 


The Knights continue their road stint with a swing trip to TCU (11/7) followed by Baylor (11/9).
