Volleyball Earns 3-1 Win Over Nevada

ORLANDO - The UCF volleyball team earned its second 3-1 win against Nevada Friday evening in The Venue.

The Knights (7-1) tallied 52 kills while the Wolf Pack (7-5) recorded four service aces. Emily Wilson led UCF with 19 kills while Chloe Scheer notched 26 digs. Abby Schomers dished out 44 assists. Britt Carlson joined Wilson in double digits with 10 kills. Katelyn Grimes added in 11 digs.

Wilson put the Knights on the board first with a kill, but Nevada quickly caught up as a UCF service error tied the game (6-6). The Wolf Pack went on a streak, giving them a six-point lead en route to a 25-15 set win for Nevada.

The second set was a battle with 13 ties and five lead changes. Nevada took advantage of a few errors from the Knights to jump out to an early 3-0 lead. The Black and Gold battled back as a kill from Sasha Cohen tied the set, 5-5. A kill from Carlson following a UCF timeout ignited a 3-0 spurt, 23-20. The Knights then rallied to equalize the match, 25-22.

UCF started strong in the third stanza with a kill from Carlson followed by a 5-1 run. The Wolf Pack chipped away at the Knights’ lead to knot the set up 13-13. As both teams tussled for the lead, the Black and Gold ultimately came out on top after a 22-22 deadlock to go up 2-1 in the match.

The Black and Gold kept the momentum going with an early 4-1 lead. Nevada fought back to tie the set at 10. A kill from Wilson led to the Knights taking the lead as they held onto it for the remainder of the set with back-to-back kills to close out the match, 25-19.

The Knights will host Maryland for the final match of their home opening weekend Saturday at 6 p.m.
