Knights conclude action at Dexter Lake Invite


Lowell, Ore. – Headlined by a second-place finish in the Second Varsity Four race, the UCF rowing team closed out the regular season at the Dexter Lake Invite hosted by Oregon State Saturday afternoon.

The Knights went head-to-head with several ranked teams and teams receiving votes in the latest Pocock Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association Poll.

UCF started the day with a strong race to finish third in the Second Varsity Four, consisting of Sofia Soria, Bailey White, Aubrie Russo, Emily LaRochelle and Meagan Lukavec, in 7:53.5. The boat finished ahead of Minnesota and Gonzaga. In the second race of the day, UCF clocked a time of 7:39.9 in the Varsity Four to end four seconds shy of third-place Gonzaga (7:35.3). The crew consisted of Sophia Troia, Saskia Papsova, Lauren Montgomery, Veronica Rush and Martina Pischedda.

In the Second Varsity Eight, consisting of Julia Going, Connery Cassidy, Charlotte Wiley, Kelly Brown, Annberlee Hothem, Natasjia Voulanas, Lindsey Buckreis, Georgia Coyne and Emily Klysen,
crossed the finish line in 6:48.1 to claim fifth place. and the Varsity Eight boat recorded a 6:44.6 with Mackenzie Harrod, Emily Puia, Seyene Oord, Tegan Fookes, Emma Leavens, Liza Lutter, Aryann Johnson, Hannah Lovejoy and Anna Kayser Gallego.

After a strong showing in its first race of the day, the 2V4 put together another solid performance to take second place in 8:17.8 behind No. 13 Oregon State (8:04.3). The V4 followed with an 8:01.6 timing, ahead of the boats from Wisconsin, LMU and Minnesota.

UCF's Second Varsity Eight notched a time of 7:27.5 in the afternoon session and the V8 closed out the day with a 7:14.9.

The Knights return to action at the American Athletic Conference Championship held Sunday, May 14, on Melton Lake in Oakridge, Tennessee. Action is slated to get underway at 9 a.m.
